MT5 WebRequest Explained for EA Licensing
MetaTrader 5 can allow an EA to communicate with specific web addresses through WebRequest. This is commonly used for licensing or controlled service checks, but only the exact trusted URL documented by the software provider should be added.
Why an EA may use WebRequest
A licensed EA may contact a server to validate a licence, approved account or subscription status. The EA can only reach addresses permitted by MetaTrader 5 and its own code.
WebRequest permission does not by itself grant remote access to your computer or broker account.
How to configure it
In MT5 open Tools → Options → Expert Advisors, enable WebRequest for listed URLs, and add only the official address stated in the customer documentation.
Restart or reattach the EA if the product guide requires it, then review the Experts and Journal tabs for any connection error.
Security rules
Never add a URL copied from an untrusted message, and never share passwords, one-time codes, private keys or seed phrases as part of EA support.
If a licence endpoint changes, confirm the new address through the provider's official website or customer documentation before editing MT5 permissions.
